Passenger services over the Tôkaidô Honsen between Tôkyô and Atami are today mainly Ueno Tôkyô Line and Shônan Shinjuku Line trains (see "The urban network system around Tôkyô/Yokohama/Chiba (long distance services"). In addition, trains working through from the Tôkyô area to the Yokosuka-sen - either via Ômori or via Musashi Kosugi - use the Tôkaidô Honsen as far as Ôfuna).
In addition, the through services of the Saikyô-sen from Ôsaki via Musashi Kosugi and the former freight-only line to Hazawa Yokohama Kokudai are also considered to be using the Tôkaidô Honsen.
